New Here
I have been seeing a psychologist and psychiatrist for the last 7 weeks or so.
Have been diagnosed as PTSD.
I am finding this to be the most frustrating thing I have ever had.
Really wish that I had had a more physical injury. I can control those.

I can't sleep w/o help and when I use the medications I can sleep for 12-14 hours but am still tired all day. Chronic fatigue ...ugh.

Somehow I get to work every day but I work in a similar environment Freezing in the hall. hiding from noise in a stairwell are some of the issues I have had to deal with when coworkers and students are present.

Nightmares are controlled a bit by medication.

This overall sucks... there is more but I just wanted to lurk here and see if I can learn.

Hi Pokeprofrich,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. (Also welcome from a fellow Hoosier.)

I am sorry to hear that you were in the accident at the state fair. You are doing the right things by getting counseling and reaching out to other sources. This site is a great place for information and support as you work towards healing.

It really does get better, but it takes time and hard work. Take your time to read and post as you feel up to it.

Take care.
Debbie

Welcome Pokeprofrich,

Whenever something traumatic happens such as that people handle it differently.
Really wish that I had had a more physical injury. I can control those.
I understand feeling this way. Part of it is because you are sure it will eventually mend most of the time and part of it is because you can point to it and others can verify it for you. At least that is it for me.

Things that happen within my head are much harder to accept and seem more difficult to mend. I'm sorry you were apart of that terrible event. Please take care,

Peace,
Rain

Welcome to the forum Pokeprofrich. You did a great intro and many will relate to wishing having had a physical injury that would corraborate the PTSD diagnosis. You have found a great place, wonderful people and lots of information available to you.

Welcome to the forum.

I am so pleased you found us. This is a great place for information, support and friendship. One of the first things I realised here, was that members 'get it'. I have great home support but I felt so alone and isolated.

I have made good friends here and have gained so much. Lurk away until you feel comfortable, absolutely no pressure although I found it did help me to share. Like I said take it at your own pace or baby steps is a term used a lot here. One baby step at a time and you took a big step in introducing yourself.

((HUGS)) if you will accept them.
Looking forward to knowing you better.
