So, referring to my first thread, same topic: yes the first week went well. And I did do the same procedure again and the results were simliar. The problem is when the effects wear off. It lasts about a week but then the gold studs fall out on their own. And I crashed hard. So, no more of that for me. If they can't make it permanent, forget it. Coming down off the therapy is just too rough.

Hey Caft

Sorry to hear that that didn't work out for you. What you're doing is slightly different than say going to an acupuncturist for a 'general' treatment. The areas of the head and neck that affect those areas which may affect PTSD are not going to last very long, as you've unfortunately found out. A general treatment would help your general sense of well being but I'd say that seeing a psychologist or going to group would be of greater benefit. Just my opinions here. It helped tremendously for my back when I hurt it about a year ago and would recommend it for those things. Again, sorry it didn't work our for ya'. It still seems like the daily grind of ..............you know the drill, seems to be it.

Caft, you gave it your best shot - that's IMPORTANT!

Keep searching for something that works for you. In the mean time utilize everything at your disposal. In the mean time we're still here and let us know if you find something - good luck!

I did the studs in the outpatient program but for pain and they helped me...or at least I convinced myself they did

i am fascinated by this. do you normally have positive results using holistic methods? what if you one were to go in weekly for the "gold studs" to avoid "withdrawal" symptoms? do you think psychological (physical?) dependency is a possibility? sorry about the barrage of questions. this is the first ive ever heard of this.

I use acupuncture for the physical ailments that I have. I don't know much about the 'studs' thing or about it's use to treat psychological problems. It helps me with my problems and It's why I go and will continue to. It can't fix things like nerve damaged area but can help with chronic pain, or at least it has for me. I know some others here have used the 'studs' with success and others not. I know more about how it affects the body physically if you have any questions in that regard.

Agree with Jar, I used it for a specific purpose. We were given access to many different treatments during an outpatient program to learn there is more than just meds & talking to a therapist. Some worked, some didn't and it varied on the person. There are different options for all the different challenges or complicating issues. For example, if I can deal with pain, insomnia & headaches it helps me isolate & cope with other things better. The VA seems willing and in many places already looking at more holistic options to add to existing treatments.
