Well... in one week my wife and I will be off to Alaska for a marriage enrichment seminar hosted by a bunch of retired military chaplains. We've never been to Alaska before, so we are both looking forward to this trip. While we're there we will be taking part in different marriage enrichment classes, but also recreational activities such as: fishing, hiking, kayaking, etc... Our marriage is pretty solid, but like any marriage I think, there is room for improvement. We have our occasional scrap where we have a go at each other and then don't talk for days; this is rare, but it happens. I think our communication could stand to improve as I have trouble expressing my feelings and needs, and my wife is very guarded and defensive because she is use to being attacked by me :( I hope we can get to the point where we can each start to express a difference in opinion w/o the other taking it as an attack and having to prove each other wrong, rather just see things from each other's point of view and agree to disagree. I also look at it as a chance to reconnect. I have been very distant and preoccupied with my issues and I hope that this time will afford us the opportunity to reconnect with one another. Well... not really looking for any feedback, just really excited about this trip so I thought I would share it here. I have done plenty of work on myself since being diagnosed but this will be one of our first steps as a couple. I hope this goes well and that there is more couples work ahead in our future. Anyways, that's all for now.
