You had every right to be pissed. That was my point in saying that I saw no humor in bitching about free food. And I see no particularly good reason NOT to vent a little in his direction too.maybe I was just pissed because he was able but chose to neglect the responsibilities to the house and want to incur more debts having spent his money on lottery tickets to have the gall to ask for cash- I can not afford cash- I did buy him 3 sets of cloths also and cover laundry/given.
I've been, technically, homeless a couple times. (When I was living in my truck I was telling myself, "At least I'm not homeless, I have a truck!" Not realizing the government thinks you're homeless if you're living in a vehicle.) Done a little couch surfing too. I handled that by doing everything and anything I could think of to make myself useful, so as not to take any more advantage of who ever was sharing their house with me than necessary. It would have been a cold day you know where before I complained about anything.
There are lots of reasons people become homeless and lots of things that might help. Some idea that the world doesn't owe anyone a living springs to mind as one of them. There are a percentage of people in this world who make a career out of finding kind hearted people who will help them. I don't know how big the percentage is. I know it's not universal, by any means, but I also know they're out there. When one benefactor gets sick of them and works up the gumption to throw them out, they'll find another "benefactor". I have NO idea if this guy falls into that category, but some of what you've said raises some bright red flags.
