Thanks Tammy, that was very insightful and spot on – exactly how I am feeling in terms of my progress – still some more ‘children’ to come to the fore I think – in time.

I have a request here for you to read a dream my partner had recently as he is quite perturbed by it – I hope this is ok with you??

In the dream he is in a large palace/castle – he is secretly observing a secret ceremony in which a woman (queen) is having sex with a bull. They are surrounded by powerful men wearing long robes – kind of ceremonial garb. Some men are encouraging the mating and some are just watching, some cheering on and one in particular is lining the bull up. In the dream my partner feels that he should not be witnessing this ceremony, he finds it uncomfortable and shocking – he hurries away quickly down the passages pretending that he has not seen the ceremony.

Not to interrupt--but I've got a short dream here to add for you too, Tammy...

I dreamt that I was at my teacher ed graduation - only, I was wearing a green gown, which is for doctors of medicine. I went to go get up to stand with the other teacher grads, but they said no, I have to stand with the other medical doctors.

Huh?

Hi Midi, green can represent jealousy, money or growth. Maybe all three here. If you are graduating that points to growth.

The other grads are aspects of yourself, and they want you to be more than what you are. That may mean you are jealous that you didn't achieve your true goals in life and you want to stand with the doctors and have that feeling of great accomplishment.

However, that opportunity is out there and that is what you are telling yourself. In the dream if you did go and stand with the doctors, maybe you could achieve that goal.

Take care
Tammy

Hi shiraz that sounds like a story I heard when I was younger about Queen Caherine of Russia, who couldn't be satisfied by men so she had sex with a horse and was crushed by the horse because the harness that lowered the horse onto her was faulty. http://europeanhistory.about.com/od/catherinethegreat/a/histmyths1.htm

Anyway, the symbols of a castle represent feelings of entitlement. Castles also keep intruders out to keep oneself safe. The secrecy of the ceremony is due to him not wanting these feelings to surface to consciousness.

The ceremony usually is a transitional phase. Getting married, funerals, and getting baptized etc.

The Queen would represent his feminine traits and this indicates entitlement. The bull represents his masculine traits, which are stubborn and aggressive.

The powerful men standing around are aspects of his personality which have the ceremonial garb. Cloths represent our identity and how we see ourselves so the ceremonial robes seem to point to entitlement again.

The mating of the Queen and Bull disturbs him because having sex is an instinctual urge and it appears he is battling with raw instincts when it comes to sex. For instance, he may be thinking anything goes, or he will mate like animals to where the male forces the female.

He probably feels a sense of entitlement over woman in that he should be able to take what he wants. This inner conflict he has seems to upset him because some where along the line he knows it's wrong to take what isn't offered, so he decides that he won't act out his sexual urges.

This is common with men because we are like animals as far as instincts go. It's passed down throughout the years for men to feel this way on a subconscious level even though most wont admit to it. Ask Midi, she knows a lot about animals and instincts.

Seeking Nirvana,

I really like how you are able to take the dreams and explain how they are echoes of ourselves. I always make the mistake of thinking it's external signs (even though it's inside my own bloody head!). It probably is a mix of all three feelings to. Maybe you are right, it's still an option! Thanks...

Hi Midi, Carl Jung was a great psyciatrist as well as a dream interpreter and I learned to interpret dreams using his methods. In t hat everything in the dream is a representation of ourselves. This is usually the case, but sometime when there is a person we know involved, the dream can be about them too, but it's mainly about you. For instance, your interactions with that person or maybe you carry certain traits that the person you dreamed of has. It can get very deep and confusing especially when he starts talking about the collective unconscious and archetypes.

He was a smart man and traveled the world to understand people and how they think and view themselves and the world. Carl Jung's mentor was Sigmand Freud. They both agreed on a lot of issues with regard to dreams, but Carl Jung was more open minded about it and ventured off and found a great deal of information about how dreams are a reflection of our lives.

He also worked with Vietnam Vets and helped a lot of them overcome their nightmares by interpreting their dreams for them.

Anyway, dream interpretation 101
Tammy

Hi Tammy,

Just wanted to let you know that your interpretation of my dream was a sort of turning point for me. It hit so close to home that it was spooky, and has given me a new direction to pursue in my recovery. Thanks again.
Pat

Tammy,

Aye, I'm a fan of Carl Jung, but don't know much at all! Another one:

I'm about to embark on a date! Last night, I had a nightmare about Dr. Ex. It went like this:

We were in the middle of foreplay, me and the Dr. Things were hot and heavy. It started to rain out. So he stopped and said since it's raining, he'd better get back to his WIFE, so he can stay dry and out of the rain. I felt insulted, but I didn't fight it.

When I woke up, it reminded me of how sometimes (not all the time) he used to leave in the morning because he needed his COFFEE immediately and since I didn't keep coffee...

Hi midi, is the Dr. in the dream a real life person that you know? Is this someone you had a date with? I need to clarify this before I can figure it out.

Tammy

Hi midi, the reason I needed to know about the doctor is because a doctor can represent your own "inner healer" but since he is someone you know and dated it makes a difference in how I view this.

IMO I feel this dream is in part the anxiety you feel about going on a date (I read your post in the forum) and then possibly being rejected by that person. The past issues you have had with your ex is triggering fear/anxiety of rejection now.

Water usually represents our emotions. Rain is an act of Mother Nature and we have no control over it, so you may feel you have no control over these feelings. But you do have control over these feelings, but you will have to work at them and allow yourself to get close to someone.

If we look at your ex as "only" a healer in this dream then you can take that part of his character and make it your own, so that you can heal yourself of this fear/anxiety.

Take care
Tammy

Tammy,

Wow, that's a good way to look at it. No control over feelings--so these feelings are part of the reason why I won't allow myself to get close to anyone.

I do have to learn to see my dreams in a more positive way.

Thanks again, eh!
