I think who is the most abusive are the individuals in companies making billions on what they knew and crafted all along.

In 1998 a number of big tobacco companies were forced to reveal all the shit they did to cigarettes to make them even more addictive. Breeding nicotine plants with multiple times the amounts of nicotine, adding ammonia and bronchodilators so that your lungs would open more to retain more nicotine, etc. Not only that, but they lied about it for decades.

Even to this day, big tobacco companies are invested in the lie that vaping is as harmful as cigarettes - because they do not want people to switch to vaping. In a study produced in the UK, they found that vaping is 95% less harmful than cigarettes. Yet big tobacco continues to lobby for vaping regulations to match cigarettes (up to and including the requirement that vapes be subjected to tobacco tax despite not including tobacco of any kind) so that more people will choose to buy their products instead.

It is an extremely insidious and disgusting business model and despite being compelled to reveal the truth, they continue to lobby for harmful practices that restrict access to cessation devices like vaping. By the way, Philip Morris has created something called IQOS, which they claim is the exact same as a vape, intended to target audiences who vape. Guess what? IQOS has all the same chemicals and byproducts as a cigarette, with even more chemicals that regular cigarettes do not, and 8x the amount of nicotine.

It is not the same as vaping. Another lie.

Yes I saw a show where Imperial Tobacco, though could have been Philip Morris(?), has moved to the Netherlands and painted a huge Circle of Death on the floor, but have made a white (vs black) tar cigarette to 'help smokers', since as they said it's to meet their market. Tons of revenue from those taxes.
