Just wanting to remind everyone.... be absolutely sure your donations are going where you intend them to go... like always, there are many people out there running scams and being selfish.... There may be a list on the internet, Google it.... don't know.... they are going to need help for a long long time.....

Having to limit my efforts some. Helped with sheet rock at my friend's house yesterday. My back is incredibly sore today. Didn't know removing 100's of nails would aggravate my back issues. Trying to schedule clarinet lessons within this mess is a nightmare. Doing it to try to salvage a tiny piece of income From the two lost weeks and potential loss of students. Very few parents see what I do as a real career. They think I just do this to make a little "fun money." Every private teacher I know is living off of credit cards right now. And none of us will qualify for lost wages as far as I know.

I had a student's parents mention that they can't get their daughter to her lesson because they are heading up recovery for flooded homes. They are paying me for the two missed lessons anyways. I will now offer free lessons to my two student's whose homes flooded. I am just beyond amazed by this generosity.

@KerriJ I saw that some organizations were saying no more diapers, non perishables, etc. because they had had so much. A big thing some of the more southern towns need are cleaning supplies -- gloves, contractor trash bags, buckets. When in doubt, the local Food Banks or local animal shelters are typically a good go to place for donations.

Thinking of y'all, @ladee and @TexCat. The gas situation is RIDICULOUS. People are flocking to the stations as soon as they get a gas shipment and filling up their vehicles and more. The panic is causing people to stockpile, which is causing shortages all over here. There was a guy in San Antonio over the weekend that filled his truck and then had two giant plastic trash cans he was filling up. Hopefully he had some sort of actual gas container inside the trash cans because that is just asking for trouble. I know the state/local governments can't put a restriction on the amount each individual can get (not under their jurisdictions apparently), but I was reading that individual gas stations have that right. So hopefully they will start only letting people fill their own vehicles (and maybe one gas small gas can). Hopefully that will help, because it's getting out of control trying to find gas stations that aren't dry at this point.

My town has had mail suspended indefinitely because our hub is routed through Houston. My meds are sent by mail, but luckily I have the means (and the money) to make other arrangements with my doctor for the time being. I can't imagine how other people are dealing with that.

I hope Mail isn't suspended here because my parents mailed us a much needed check to help us out.

Also, my husband got sick from his store cleanup. Fever of 102 for the last two days. I made him go to urgent care last night. Then I drove to the 24 hour pharmacy, that was closed. It opened today, but all the closer pharmacies won't open until Tuesday. And worse than all of that, there is a grouchy man in my house!!!
