St. John's Wort. I was involved with harvest and sales of the raw product in the late 1990's. It has lots of nasty side effects as you have said. If you are using it as a raw herb it is very hard to dose as the active chemicals can very greatly in toxicity depending on harvest and storage. If bought in a store it is supposed to be standardize to 3%. A study was done by a news organization in the nineties and found none of the product they purchased met those spec's. So it is hard to say if you are using it under the care of a natural path doctor or herbalist they would be the best to tell you.

Okay...

What do fears do? They warn us that there's danger.

The question to ask, I think, is how likely is the danger?

My grandmother smoked cigars, drank beer, and ate a pound of bacon every morning. Into her late 90s. No cancer/emphysema, sharp as a tack, & low cholesterol. Fit as a fiddle. And yet? The warnings about the risks of smoking, drinking, & high fat diets are very real. There will always be individuals who are fine, and individuals who make up the bulk of a statistic. No way to tell what group you, yourself will be in. Only the likelihood.
