Looking for young people to relate to! I am 19 and my partner is 20. Most sufferers and carers I have come across are older than 25, so it would be nice ot have some young people to chat to. Also I am guessing that the lifestyle of a 20 year old and that of a 40 year old differ greatly... so yeah... Anyone out there? :D

I'm 24, PTSD is sad anyways but it seems so much more tragic when it grips you before you even have a chance to start a normal life. I'm not by any means saying that the older ones don't suffer as much- as I'm sure they do. I'm rambling but I think we might have less good memories to hold on to.

yeah, I am supporting my partner who is a sufferer... and his entire life has just been s**t. He has nearly 0 good memories, and it is heartbreaking. He didn't have a childhood, he is no longer a teenager, and his young adult life never really began...

Hi I'm 32, for a lot of people who contracted ptsd they did so from childhood circumstance. I had ptsd definitely from 14/15yrs of age.

What I'm saying is, is that once you get it, it becomes a factor in your lifestyle and so people who are older will have lived through the lens of ptsd for longer and will know what your experiencing now.

I get that it probably helps to talk to people who are feeling those things now. I don't mean to be prescriptive but I remember what is what like to become excluded as a kid-young adult as I'm sure loads of people on here do and are still managing the effects. That is the point really in having ptsd.

21 here. :)
It's nice/brave of you to be so concerned for him. You must really care for him, it can't be easy being the supporter at this age.

Hi Slyn,

I was 19 when I got PTSD, I'm now 22, and my partner is 28.
I'm free to chat if you need some extra support, I'm HEAPS better than I used to be, with my partner's help, so I'd love to be able to pass that help on.

I am too old for the cool club, and by only 3 weeks :( lol. I am 25 at the moment, residing in Canada (you may know us as that big goofy hat worn by the continental US). My childhood itself gave me PTSD, so been suffering from it for as long as I have been aware of my existence... though I only realized I had it like 2 weeks ago. And then a whole bunch of crap started making sense lol.

Confused- I have never heard Canada referred to as America's hat before. That literally made me laugh out loud at the image! Back on topic though, I think you should know that the time period after getting diagnosed was really tough. Mine is from childhood issues too and so many memories came back. If you need anything I'm here!
