Are You Buying The New Iphone 6s / 7?

I would like to know how to get "talking books" onto...
I use 'audible' which is an Amazon audio book company. It works with iTunes, so you purchase you book online and it downloads into your iTunes ready for listening - very simple procedure.

I see 'talking books' come on CD or USB. i think for either of those you would need to use your computer to transfer it onto your iPhone. Not difficult, but perhaps a bit fiddly. Probably something that would be best shown rather than described. - maybe your sister could help?

I think it perhaps depends on what you want it for. 'Talking books' include newspapers and magazines and are specifically aimed at the visually impaired.' Audible' only does books but has a huge library including those aimed at relaxation. They also provide some free audio books.

I have a Galaxy S4 but my computers at home and work are Apple... OSX is different from IOS though. I am actually considering switching right now to an iPhone, the S4 has some issues...

maybe I should wait for the next iPhone though? Anyone hear of an amazing new iPhone being sent by Jobs from beyond the grave?

However I like what I heard about a new iPhone 6 Plus, I think? Its camera has that stabilization thingy. My hand steadiness is a bit intermittent... Cat pictures require the very best tech! Also many GB of cloud storage for all of them!

My son-in-law is the computer geek in the family - he is an IT guy and has several small tech businesses of his own. He is the one that convinced me to buy Apple in the first place. He swears by the Samsung phone after having had all of the previous Apple upgrades. HOWEVER, it will be interesting to see if he trades back for an Apple when this latest incarnation becomes available. Or, being the geek that he is, have both ;)

Thanks for that Lucycat, much appreciated, I'm not quite into ITunes, but I will find out more about these talking books, as I'm not a good reader of books, I think all them specs and codes that I "used to have to read" for my work, put me off reading altogether! Thanks again.

As for the phones, all the folk I used to know, said that they found the Samsung too complicated to use.

Glad your happy with it, I will keep my old faithful 4S, as it's only £13 a month, if I got the new 6 one I would go back to paying £34 a month?

Besides, V/M are still insisting that I keep paying the £13 for my late wife's phone, which her son stole for her bedside right after she passed? So I've asked them to deactivate it so he can't use it, but I still have to lay right up till May next year?

Apple have really improved the latest IOS in combination with the hardware. I got the phone outright, so no such contracts here. I do that now so that I can change phone when I want, not based on when a telco contract expires. Much easier. Besides... with Applecare, the phone is covered that way for 3 years warranty, where telcos often only give a 12 month default manufacturer warranty. Most contracts being two years nowadays... that makes the second year high risk IMO.

The best part... if you look after your iPhone, then resale is extremely high on eBay. You get most of your money back, and pay only a respectable difference for using the phone for a year or two.

A couple of months ago I bought the I Phone 6. I had a flip phone before. I love it and am going to take the class on how to use it. It has changed my life because I can text now. I am still learning but I just love it.

I've found a site where the audio books are free, but to be honest I don't use it as much now, as I'm usually too tired to listen to it when I go to bed.

Also, it's impossible to start from where you left off, as it only stops at chapters? That's too long for me, as some of the ones I can get from the library are on cassette, and you can stop them at any point, and start from the same place next time.

Nope, I'm not buying. (lol)

I don't have much interest in a cell phone and don't own one. However, I do use my husband's Motorolla, (lol) from time to time.

:)
