Good for you! I think diets are bad, at least the idea of one, and it has to be a change in habit. Hopefully for the better. I know my doctor said to eat more fruit and veggies when I wasn't losing. I do the same thing about weight, but I'm getting to the point where I really think I could shed it.

I make certain I get enough protein, sugar, and water or it will affect my mood, but that's about it. I would like to try to engage in a more healthful diet, and am actively working on doing so, but nothing more specific than that.

I am diabetic, I try to eat healthy. What is healthy for everyone else is healthy for a diabetic, but I am following a healthy heart and weight loss diet that I got from the nutritionist at the hospital. It is basically fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and fish, with portion control.

A typical day would be oatmeal with crushed walnuts and a banana for breakfast, tomato, cottage cheese, and tuna for lunch, and salmon fillets, vegetables, and an apple for dinner. I enjoy eating healthy, but have to lose weight because medications put the pounds on me.

I've been vegetarian for years. In September I was prescribed a much higher dose of Lithium than necessary which suppressed my thyroid so I gained about 20 pounds... I've been trying to lose that slowly, as I don't want to relapse into my eating disorder.

I'm on a seefood history diet. If I see it, and it's slower than me, it's history :p. Just kidding. I don't have a set diet or schedule. I try to listen to my body tell me when it's hungry, which with my anxiety isn't easy other than FARK I'm hungry! I eat a big meal once in my morning whatever time that may be, snack some during the day, and a small meal no closer than 4 hours optimally before bed. If I miss my dinner time, I usually go to bed hungry rather than eat within an hour of going to bed. Going to bed hungry isn't as bad as it sounds if your used to it (as long as I'm not starving hungry). I've gone from close to 300lbs mid '08 to around 230lbs the last year or two without much effort. I'm 6'3 with some muscle so 230lbs isn't so bad. Portion control and timing are the easiest to control with the biggest rewards IMHO. WHAT I eat does have an important roll also, but I do admit to eating lots of noodles (macaroni and cheese (see my recipe for nuclear noodles on this site) = lots carbohydrates)).

Yeah, I'm somewhat on a psuedo-paleo myself. I've cut out just about all carbs since I found out that I was diabetic, and it's been working very well for me. Like.. very VERY well. I didn't realize just how many calories I was eating each day. Pro-tip, the portion size on cereal should be taken into account seriously.

My meds and comfort eating cost me a lot. I weigh 187 lbs. I am eating once a day, unless I have a slip and am trying smaller portions now.

My diet is sugar reduced and caffeine reduced interspersed with caffeine free months when I feel my anxiety is getting out of control. I am also gluten free and lactose reduced - but not because of PTSD. It take vitamin D, and 100mg of levothyroxine (replacement thyroid hormone) to help with digestion. The thyroxine has the added bonus of being a semi-natural anti-depressant.
