This is a painting I did last Saturday, when I was doing Spring Cleaning. It is entitled Whirlwind. I finally got my camera to work! YAY! I still am having troubles lining up the viewfinder with the actual image though. I end up taking about 5-10 photos of each painting, just to get one that is lined up well. Even so, some of the edges of this one are missing.

The inspiration for this came from the "PTSD POETRY ANYONE?" Thread where we were talking about how difficult it has been all or lives to do something as seemingly simple as housework. I had just realized that my mother had simply expected that I be born knowing how to do cleaning and house chores. Like really? But then, her mother never taught her how to do that either.

So I am doing a bit of housekeeping now, whereas I had been letting it go for ages. This may not seem to have much to do with PTSD, but for me it is HUGE. I have gone a lifetime having trouble with this and looking back on my inner child's growing up period and all that, I am not surprised. She really does like things neat. She has hardly a clue how to keep them that way though. I guess we will have to learn together.

Just a funny side note. I was painting and drinking some tea and I accidentally dipped my brush into my tea instead of the water container, which is about the same size at the tea mug. I think I need to get to bed....

Wrote this on the piano the other day.

Creatures of the Sea

Tame the wild, tame the free,
Tame the monsters out of me.
Restless watch the tide from shore.
Box me, shelf my spirit here.

I'm made for more than wooden pores
And hooks on walls that hold me still
The ocean's wild and calling me

Pulled to sea, I'm now the wild
The creatures out there, crashing, calling
Howls have shattered wooden pores
Waves have ripped the hooks from walls
I found the free, inside the creatures
Called to them, I call the creatures wild.

If you leave me wild and free,
I'll be one with creatures of the sea.
Once I find the ocean's end,
I'll come home, come home to you.

Offer up my open hand
The creatures wild have come to land.

Sorry that this image is so messed up. I have been having trouble getting my computer and my camera to "jive," not to mention that I have yet to figure out how to take pictures with a digital camera that has no screen on it, just an old fashioned glass viewfinder on top of it. None the less, the colors are nice, so I thought I would share. This is called DRAGON'S TAIL. There is a story behind it, but it is complicated and I have been up all night and in some pain....
