I hope all went well and wanted to congratulate you on your HUGE achievement of stopping smoking. I have been nicotine free for 7 months as of yesterday. Well done and hope the recovery is easy and as pain free as possible.

Here we go again . the Hospital was OK as hospitals go . the procedure was hard but only because I could not move . that is hard with out having a roto rooter sent down you Femoral artery . and really it was not the procedure that hurt at all . It was the not moving that caused the most pain , because I have been all busted over the years . It is near impossible to stay still , let alone lie flat for 13 hours strait .
so now I'm home and I already have a bulge at the site of the puncture . I will talk to my primary care Doc if it get any worse . I am just a bit miffed and worried about this whole thing .

Beatle Bailey :(

Right, check with the Surgeon if it gets bigger. Sometimes no issue but sometimes it is and needs a ultrasound to look at it. I think I said this before but make sure you follow the post-op instructions and don't do anything, and I mean anything, that they have said you should not do. Even if you think you feel better.

Oh, oops, came back to add that I am glad you are home and seem to be doing well. Take care!

Thanks every one for the support and well wishes .
I spoke to the surgeon this after noon . He said if it gets any bigger come in rite away . he was ready to look at it right then but I did not have wheels to get there . So I feel better about the whole thing now .

Hello Beetle Bailey

I love your comic strip

I wish I had seen this thread sooner. I am still new here and getting used to the boards. I am glad the surgery (apparently) went well even though uncomfortable for you to lie there for 13 hours. I would go crazy!

I am quitting smoking on Saturday with the nicotrol inhaler. 31 years of it; chol and bp fine and heart ok too but lungs are very beat up! I'm soon to be 50 and getting scared and frustrated with coughing wheezing and not being able to breathe. Good for you quitting!!! It's HARD this will be my 6th attempt...with PTSD this time....yeehaw should be fun.

All the best in your recovery ok! Take good care and watch that swelling do keep us posted!!!

Well the recovery went well but the procedure was not as successful as it could have been . The artery is clear but the pain is still there . I talked to the Doc and he was surprised the pain had not lessoned .

We are going forward with the next femoral artery tho .28th I get my pre-admission check up and 31st of this month . I'm happy the procedure is getting done right away , just not so happy that I have to walk thru the pain to get the benefits . Oh well No pain no gain .

I told the Doc how much my knee hurt last time and he will try to do things just a bit different this time . The Doc is going to cut me instead of a puncture wound and he is going to sew the artery instead of pushing on the site to close the hole . The Doc also said he will use a different pain killer this time since I projectile vomited last time .

I am not as nerves as I was last time . I would like the results he said I should have . The
doc says the pain should go away emediately .

I am still Smoke free 8 months now . I do not cough and I can breathe now . 57 years old . I also have lots of money I never had , he he I can afford to have fun .

Hi Beatle Baily,

Thank you for your post. It has reinforced my commitment to stop smoking. Great accomplishment on your part.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

Debbie
