Asking For Some Rather Odd Advice

I apologize in advance cuz this is a little weird. When I feel overwhelmed, I have a dog collar I wear (yes, a dog collar). I take it everywhere I go in case I start having problems during class. Yesterday, it went missing, and it has not showed up in lost and found. There's a chance it won't ever show up. Being without a collar is already starting to freak me out. I'm going home this weekend and will DEFINITELY make buying a new one a high priority. I'm thinking about buying two, one I really like, and one that's a little cheaper that can be for backup. OR should I fork out the extra money and buy two of the same? The one I recently lost was blue with little white skulls, very soft and so pretty, I was thinking about making replacement number1 the exact same style (if I can find it), but should I make replacement number2 the same as the original? If I do, then I will have two, possibly three(if my missing collar shows up) collars that are exactly alike. Should I make one or even two of the collars different so I have some variety, or just stick with the tried and true classic? Again, I'm sorry for the oddness of this thread and thank any advice givers in advance for their help.

I wouldn't over think it. If I want a dog collar, I'd go shopping and if I found something I like, I'd get it. If I found two I liked, then I might get them both.

I actually have a dog collar... but it was part of my Under Dog halloween costume. To each his own though... If you like dog collar's I hope you find something special. It does though just seem like you're overthinking this.

When I was a teen they were in style, a lot, actually, quite common.

If something brings you comfort, well- it brings you comfort.

But you're not a dog, either, you are a person and working on the issues that have caused you pain, will help you to feel better, even without the collar.

Welcome to you!

I think if it were me I would get different styles. That said I think that the most important thing would be that it (they) make you feel good and that they are comfortable to wear. Have you ever checked out the Buckle Down site? They have some really beautiful collars that have a lot of character. I will be ordering the "Only God Can Judge Me" collar for my boy FatHead in a couple of weeks (dog in my avatar - American Bulldog/American Pit Bull Terrier Mix - the collar seems appropriate given his breeds).

It can be tough when we lose things we're attached to and rely upon - sorry to hear your collar is missing.

I'd try a new style. Maybe something with elements similar to the old one, but that's different enough so that it stands on its own - so that you're not always thinking, "This is just a copy of the original I lost." Then get a second one that's TOTALLY different and can suit/support a completely different mood, emotion, whatever. E.g., maybe one day you feel like having pastel skull & crossbones, and then next it's red Hello Kitty.

I have several collars, although I don't wear them out in public quite as much as I used to. For me, it was like giving off a warning signal of "don't mess with me". As I've gotten more secure and made personal progress and am better at asserting myself, I feel the need less and less.
