Not to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, but I might be able to clarify this situation of girlfriends/spouses/non-combat veterans getting on this forum by mistake.
I found this forum by searching on Google for things to learn more about my boyfriend's severe PTSD and TBI. We have both been at the end of our ropes lately, and I was looking for some sort of "insider" insight into how I can understand more and help him better. I came across this forum. I read the maximum amount of threads allowed before I was forced to register for the site. Almost all of them involved a spouse/girlfriend/etc asking for advice or help in a situation about their combat veteran, some of which were very helpful to me. So, when it came up that I had to register before I could read more posts, I did. I did see the disclaimer at the bottom, but it was somewhat confusing to me since I had just been reading posts written by spouses, so I thought maybe the disclaimer was to weed out non-military people trying to cause trouble in the forums. I happened to click on this post after I logged in, and it was the first time I saw mention of this supporters forum. I find myself pretty tech savvy, but hadn't seen anything about the supporters forum on the main page, or anywhere in this forum. I see that you say it's under network in the links above -- definitely not the place that I would think it would be located, so I didn't search there.
I am not trying to give you guys a hard time by any means, and in fact, I truly appreciate some of the posts I found and advice they gave, especially from you, Jimmy -- you seem to have a similar situation that my boyfriend has with the ex-wife/girlfriend thing and your advice rings very true to our situation. But with the way that I discovered this forum and didn't end up seeing anything about the supporters forum, maybe that's how other people are getting here, too? Is there maybe a way to add a banner on the main page that points us in the direction of the supporters forum, or add the supporters forum link under the 'forums' tab on the top? It would be a big help.
Off to the supporters forum for me, but hopefully I cleared some of the confusion up about us rebels who blatantly ignore the disclaimer. =)
