Hi and welcome! I'm hetero but have several LGBTQ friends. To be quite honest I don't get the issues...

Thank you for your message Freida, and your support of LGBTQ people in your life - it's a real shame that discrimination and violence still exists, isn't it. It seems we're heading in the right direction in many places, though still a little while off.

About your question; my personal experience is that gender is a spectrum. There are some folks who sit strongly at one end, firmly as women/men. Others who sit closer to the middle, or anywhere else in between
(some folks prefer to not be on the gender spectrum at all). This could be expressed externally, or felt internally - so not always easy to tell from appearances. So, non-binary is simply not being firmly on one end of that spectrum.

I hope that speaks to your question

Welcome sufferer,I am not gay or anything like that (that i am aware of) but I am an ally for sure. C-P...

Thank you so much for sharing Crushed. Such amazing work to be sitting with your 'stuff' like that, and attending to yourself in a caring way.

I relate to Pete Walker playing a significant role in your life - it felt really transformative to come across his work. I'm still working my way through different sections - having conversations with folks in my life about it has been pretty profound.. and it's still unfolding.

Hi @Elliot and others who replied, so glad to have found your posts. I am new here today, in the UK and I'm breaking my sleep hygiene rules staying up this late, so will try to keep this brief... but so happy to be finding people to connect with, especially some LGBTQI+++++ people who might have an understanding of some of the things that straight people don't have to deal with generally.
We have quite a few things in common, working in the social sector (in the past), animals, the outdoors, art and music. I was a (trans & genderqueer aware/ally) out lesbian until my previous damaging relationship eroded a lot of my identity. I think I still am... I mean, I am, but it's just hard for me to be in touch with much of who I am at the moment, and I'm in no fit state to be in a relationship. It's also been hard to stay in touch with some of my queer friends who aren't that close or understanding, during the past few years when my life has imploded.
Anyway, better go, and thanks for reaching out.
Best wishes, UCO.

Hey, nice to meet all of you.
I'm 26 and a gay woman with C-PTSD.
Massive trans* ally and advocate. Prefer to be called 'gay' or 'queer' rather than lesbian :)
I use she/her pronouns, what about everyone else?
Thanks for starting this thread @Elliot .
A community is a great idea.
