Reiki Self Treatment

Lost Girl,

Here is the Reiki/visualization that I use.

  • Sit in whatever position you use in meditation.
  • Place both hands overlapping on top of your head towards the back
  • As you feel the warmth and contact on your scalp, picture bubbles or flecks of negative energy being naturally drawn from your body and being absorbed by your hands.
  • Hold this position for a few breaths, let it happen
  • When you're ready, brush your hands together as if you were dusting them off, then blow on your hands a few times and imagine releasing all that negative residue
  • Repeat this process with hands on:
  • front and back of head
  • palms over ears
  • hands covering face
  • cupping both sides of your jaw
  • criss-crossing at throat
  • over heart (one hand on top of other)
  • just below navel
  • right hand on left knee and left hand on right shoulder, then opposite as well (I often feel a good feeling at this point, crossing the body's energy line is always positive for me)
  • and finally hands on opposite feet, palm to palm so to speak if you can manage it
Remember to dust and blow away any negative energy that collects on your palms after each hand placement. Breathe deeply each time you let it all go, and let the breath carry the energy away.

I don't know if this helps any, hope so,
Dave

I do two types of meditation.

One is meditations as taught in Kundalini Yoga. It usually involves combining a certain posture (of the hands/arms, mostly), a direction of the eyes, and saying a certain mantra. This means it gets harder to have 'distracted thoughts' in the meantime, you need to focus on what you're doing. Most of these 'meditations' need to be done for 40 days, and you can use a meditation to work on a specific 'problem' or for a specific goal.

The other type of meditation is just to sit and feel 'inside of me'. Be in touch with the divine in me. Feel the peace in my heart. I don't make an effort to not think. I just try to breathe quietly and sit still. When I do have thoughts and notice I have them, I just try to let go.
Like, when I notice I think that I still need to do some shopping, I notice I have the thought but I do not start to make a mental shopping list then and there! I just go back to 'being'.

Thanks Freya, the Kundalini Yoga med. sounds interesting. I use some yoga poses myself for meditation, they just seem naturally suited to putting me in the right frame of mind.

I use breath awareness with words on each in and out breath, like good, beauty, light, clouds, water, caring, hope. Sometimes I stay longer with one word or another. It is a way I can refocus my attention on the good and beautiful things that surround us and the inner goodness that comes from living an intentional life. No thank yous , I'm sorrys left unsaid at the end of the day, no I love yous either.

When I was five and an early reader, I remember there being a long 'poster' on a doctor's exam room wall. I tried to read the shortest line as I waited. It said, "Thou shalt do no harm." Then and there, I vowed to live my life that way. I think that's why my captors and abusers couldn't turn me into one of them. On the inside, I simply refused to become like them, so bitterness and greed were out, so was maliciousness, also hatred and anger, pleasure at inflicting pain and degradation of others.....

Thank you Mercy, for your kindness and wisdom always.
An "intentional life" is a nice way to put it.

You have survived much and you should be very proud.

Wow, that's a powerful story Mercy. Obviously that single line resonated with all the good inside of you. It's amazing you have maintained it through it all.

Thank you Mercy for sharing that... It's a line that struck me recently. What you wrote makes so much sense.
