Changing A Tire

So I found out earlier in the week that one of the tires on my car had a nail in it. This happened mostly by chance since I was filling it with air and noticed a nail head in the tire tread. The tire had been fine all week until this morning when I needed to go to the bank and it was completely flat. So I called my dad and ask if he could talk me though changing it since I have never done it before. So this my friends is how it happened.

Got the car jacked up (happy because I did it by myself)
Got the plastic cover off (happy because I did it by myself)
Got all five bolt nuts off (happy because I did it by myself)
Take flat tire off (does not budge proceed to kick tire due to fathers advice cursing the entire time for approximately 20 minutes)
Wait for father to come to deal with &%$# tire.
:mad::mad:

Wow, I am impressed you got that far. I had an issue with my tire last fall and I couldn't even figure out how to put air into. Of course, I actually do know how to put air in the tire, but I was pretty overwhelmed with panic by that point so nothing was working. I had co-workers fill my tire and had the car place repair it. So I think you did pretty well!

Congratulations on giving it a good effort! Most don't even try these days, just call AAA or someone else. Dads, and granddads, and men in general do need to feel needed.... but you should feel good too since you'll have a better idea how to go about it if it happens again. Or if Dad is too far away to get there soon.

So my dad shows up and tries to take the tire off and it does not budge. Goes back in and gets a hammer and bangs on it a few times and it comes loose. Said the tire and the bolts were pretty rusted together but said I did everything right. The tire is currently being fixed at a repair shop so everything worked out.

Ok so good news and bad news time. The good news is that I got to complete my tire change by puting on the spare. The bad news is the tire cannot be repaired and with the rest of the tires being soo thin in tread I am going to have to buy four new tires today. :tdown: I would have had to do this before winter anyways but I was hoping to have a few months to save instead of use emergency funds.

Well done. I simply hate it when cars fail us when we need them so much. Congratulations on the new tires. That should give you some peace of mind.
