Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11

We live by faith, not by sight. - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Hmmm... not sure what the copywrite stuff is gonna do to this thread... but there's always today:
Ecclesiastes 7:14 "In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider--God has made the one as well as the other so that man may not discover anything that will be after him."

The following questions are designed to help us “consider” in the day of adversity:

(1) How am I responding to it?
(2) How should I respond to it?
(3) Am I learning from it?
(4) Does my response demonstrate faith, love for God and for others, Christ-like character, values, commitment, priorities, etc.?
(5) How can God use it in my life?

We've already surpassed the copyrighted and permitted amount of quoting on this thread, so we will most likely have to make a new CHRISTIANS UNITE! thread, once this one gets deleted. I've been in touch with Anthony about it....

I know that a lot of folks here also benefit from meditation, which is, I think, something from an E...
I've discovered there are several forms of meditation. Some are meant to intentionally create dissociation (an ungood thing) whereas mindfulness meditation I find help me get back into my body and help me remember to "set my mind on things above where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal."

1 Corinthians 13:4

"Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, 5 doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails."

(This is a quote from the WORLD ENGLISH BIBLE which is a public domain property of Wikipedia, if I understand everything they say on their website correctly).

I find that my being loving in my life is the most essential thing, both for God and other people. Sometimes it is hard to love. People and institutions are often not as lovable as we would like them to be! Human nature is so often to "watch out for number one" and I find myself as guilty of that as anyone else is! To be loving, we need to give of ourselves sometimes more than is comfortable. I am especially finding that to be true in my new job. I am a Senior Companion to a man who has Dementia. Whereas my body and muscles and bones are breaking down, this poor man's BRAIN is doing so, and he has trouble finishing sentences and remembering names. He gets confused easily. I have to watch out that he does not wander off and get lost if I go to the ladies room! I start my official training for the job tomorrow, so hopefully there will be some suggestions for me on how to be of better help to him. He is a gentle man, sweet, and quiet. He used to make violins for a living when he worked! So I bet he is a very patient man.

Anyway, I could use all of your prayers for him and for me. His name is Norman.

Well, ShielaKathy, it sure sounds like your work with Norman falls under the category of "inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto me." I perceive you have a heart for loving service which is a really bright light in these dark days. As you dive into training, may you have wisdom to know what you can and can't do. Either way, you're giving it a go and, as such, you have already won. Rock on! (if I may use a rather contemporary phrase.) :-)
