O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 NLT

"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
John 10:28-30 NLT

For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’”
Romans 14:1 NLT

It's funny how when we pray for certain things, I've found that they don't usually come as expected and sometimes it doesn't sink in that our prayers have been answered because we were on the lookout for something a bit different.

I had one of my recent prayers answered but it took some time to see it for what it was. It's not what I was expecting and not in the most desired form, but I now see it's exactly what I needed. I don't question God for answering the way that he does, because I know his wisdom greatly surpasses my own. Sometimes I do question what is happening simply because I want to understand, but it's not a criticism of God in the least.

The most tragic of unanswered prayers are for when we pray for healing for a deathly ill person and the person dies instead. I had this happen recently. Now I am praying for his widow and his family and friends. He was on our church prayer list and now his family is on it. Even though he did not attend our church nor any church to my knowledge, he was a Christian and so when his family needed a Pastor to speak at his Celebration of Life Ceremony yesterday, since I had told them that our church was praying for him all along, they asked my pastor and a friend of his who was a pastor to speak at his service yesterday. These things happen. We cannot really know why some folks die young. It does say somewhere in the Book of Isaiah (I forget where) that God takes them home early to protect them from the evil that would have come into their lives otherwise. I do believe this makes a lot of sense and I will rest assured that this is why God took my friend home at the young age of 49. May he rest in peace.

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
1 Peter 1:18-19 NLT

For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.
Colossians 1:27-28 NLT
