Condo sounds great @littleoc we can trade off with the master bedroom and garage. I figure arm wrestling or boxing could be our way of determining who gets the extras.?

Maybe a heartfelt letter to your grandparents of the true struggles (home, health, study and giving you a chance at your dreams) you have been going through, taking care of your mom is too big a project for her daughter with the one disability that would hinder that effort PTSD.

Maybe send a letter to your grandparents with photos of the interior of the house you are dealing with, the respiratory issues(could lead to pneumonia, I spent two weeks in a coma because of that).

I know they would see your sincerity and realize what an impossible situation you are in.

At the very least if they said know you would have an answer. If it's no, you move in a different direction, if yes you find an apartment or condo, a home that they could help with. It would change your life.

Ok -- breathe. Back up a bit. Here's some ideas
Most places have a service called 211. It is one stop shopping for all things social service. They can help you with everything from housing assistance to help with paying for your prescriptions. You reach them by dialing 211 or use this link 2-1-1.org

You can also check with your school. Most colleges have assistance programs for students that have everything from food pantries to housing ideas. If you are low income they can help you process the paperwork for food stamps and meds and all that. I'm guessing there should be a student services phone number - or just call the main number and ask.

Ask your grandparents for help. Stop thinking you know the answer. The worst they can say is no. The best they can say is Yes. You won't know until you ask. You will need their help if you are planning on taking the animals with you because no matter where you go you will probably have to provide a pet deposit. One thing you could offer -- if they bought a house as an investment they could rent it to you, or do a rent to purchase option down the road.
So ask them!!!!

You may qualify for social security disability but it can take a long time to get it and they turn down almost everyone the first time around. Plus you don't get medicare (health benefits) for 2 years. yea - 2 years. So while it's good to apply don't rely on it.

This is a good idea. Your mom needs help you can't provide.

I had a dream that I was able to get to my desk, fix it, and take it somewhere nice.

I’ll get it figured out.

My mom sees everything as a bad thing. She told me she thinks she can’t get unemployment benefits because she’s getting a severance pay. I was like, “Wait, is that bad?”

Slept for ten hours again. I think. I actually forgot to record it.

My room was worse than this. I took out more than sixty trash bags. And now I can’t get rid of the rest. At least you can see the window. That took me four months to get to.

I am so so sorry. I wish I could come over and clean for you. I can be a madwoman when I get in just the right mood and your room would be calm and safe in no time.

It’s a lot better than what I was. But waking up to this is an OCD nightmare.

And I had to clean so many mouse houses. Mice hice. My dad used to keep a million animals in here. He didn’t understand that they were alive.

It really is better though.

That’s my pant leg. Previously the bed was so surrounded by mountains that I couldn’t move in my sleep and couldn’t change my sheets without hours of effort.

That’s how my teenage life was. I wish I would have known I could have gotten child protective services. I thought it was my fault.
