Coming Off Medication For Surgery

Third day off medication and other than lack of sleep due to work I seem to be doing really well. :D

Been off medication for 5 days now. Feel like crap but not depressed so thinking the outcome is good despite hospital wanting me to go back on as prescribed. Will re-assess in a few days once everything else settles down.

Comming off meds and staying off is an amazing feeling imo. It has its moments but worth it imo. I wish you the best of success. I hope you are feeling a little better today.

Well, I lasted for 5 days off my meds but since I have been feeling really crappy, Anthony and I decided now is not the time to quit the meds as there is too much going on.

I have weaned myself back on as my head was just hurting too bad.

Good thing is I am only on 2/3rds on the dosage I was taking pre-surgery and seem to be ok at this level. Once I have further surgery and get off the cocktail of drugs I am taking I will then try to get off the meds completely. For now I will try to stay at the lower level and get through the further surgery required and get all the stupid drugs out of my system for pain and anti-inflamatory purposes. I reckon if you shook me right now I would rattle like a bottle of pills. :eek:

Take what you need, as you said, there is so many other things for you to be dealing with. When I worry about meds I take the stance that they are only another tool/technique to help me manage.

Here's another vote with KP. You don't have to fix everything at once. Do what you need to do. Luckily you have Anthony there to help sort it all out. He's a pretty smart guy and "gets it" better than most.

Rest and take care of yourselves. :sleep: You know there are a lot of us here who are sending warm and healing thoughts your way!

I agree with the above ... one day at a time, one hour at a time.

With all those meds one can go crazy : before meals on an empty stomach, with food, with milk, not with lactose products, etc. Yeahhhhh, real fun ... put up a schedule, alarm clock, a few boxes of chocolates and life will be beautiful ...

I think a lavish bunch of flowers would be nice but we have to save $ wherever we can so let's sacrifice the flowers for chokkies and a couple of kilos! :laugh:
