I've got windows 10 - I can confirm you can't use Woebot on it, not even with Chrome.

What kind of phone do you have? I've found most are actually easier when it comes to downloading apps, once you figure it out.

Hey @Changing4Best - essentially android phones are generic mobile phones of all or any brand except I-phones.

If you have an android phone you can download the app via your Google account through Google Play and if it's free then simply find it by doing a search in the store on your phone, read up on the reviews and if you still want it - press download and it will turn up on your phone with a little icon that then opens the app for you to commence using it. (I assume). Remember every downloaded app is using your phone data allowance (if you have a limit be aware of this) unless you can switch to some free wifi which I wouldn't use myself.

I only ever get free apps because inevitably I tire of them. Be aware that a lot of apps have advertising, can be heavy on battery use and ask for permissions that you should consider before downloading and opening it. The app will tell you what permissions it wants on the site (for android that would normally be google play store) where you are downloading it from. If it doesn't then think very seriously about downloading it because there is a risk.

Permissions allow the app to use your contact list, maybe your camera and other functions and information on your mobile phone. Not all of them are benign and you should consider the merits of the app and the risks with allowing the app to have access to other personal information and phone functions. Google Play Store says it tries to stop bad apps that can wreak havoc on your phone (and therefore your life) but there are of course no guarantees with apps or google really - as in everything too. :cautious:

Not everyone agrees with my caution but I do know that some apps can cause problems on some phones. For example the phone starts to freeze, the app will not shut down, the phone wakes without you waking it, excessive battery usage and other stuff involving information stored in your phone. Most are irritating and not malevolent but still worth knowing and understanding before you download. Not naming names here obviously

If your phone starts misbehaving after you download the app. It's probably the app! There is no tweaking an app. If it plays up - get rid of it. Hopefully this restore calmness in your phone and life.

Good luck with it if you choose to proceed.

@Changing4Best -

I read your post about not knowing how to transfer pic's from your mobile phone to your computer.

If you have a Windows operating system you can,

1. Take the pic attach it to a email & email it to yourself from your phone - Then you will have it on your computer - select to save the pic into a folder...

2. The cable's that help charge your phone might have a usb cable ending on it?... plug it into a usb port on your computer and you should find it asks you if you want to transfer files... make a folder you want your pic to go into.... give it a name like nature pics - whatever you like...and select to transfer files to it...

3. If you are saving pics to a storage card on your phone - you can take it out of your phone and pop it in your card reader on your computer (if you have one)

Just thought I'd mention this...just in case

I guess I have to go out there this morning and see what I can find to photograph! I will try the USB thing, as I do think it has one as part of the charging chord. Thanks for the info. The phone came with a sheet of paper that was useless in telling me what I needed to know!

Quite often if you google search what you want to do that's more useful than the manuals. Someone has almost always asked the same question before and it is there. If your phone is an android and your computer is using a Windows operating system there will be something to refer to.

Best of luck and looking forward to seeing a beautiful photo from one of your walks :)

I did it! Actually, my computer knew more about it than I did. IT walked me through it.

I have 2 desktops...one is a Gateway SX series which is about one third the size of most computer towers with all the power of standard sizes and the second is a Dell OptiPlex 760 series. Both run Windows10. The Dell, Windows 10 Pro. I spend a good amount of my time on the computer so it is worth it for me to have a backup.

I have crashed into 2019 with a new laptop... yay!! But.. geese what a pain to set it all up. They (Windows) reckon it's sooo easy - well yes it's easy but quite time consuming still...

Anyway.. so far so good. Windows 10 woohoo !! :)

I wonder if this laptop will last me 12 years like the one I have just retired? Hmm...
