I recently read a post from 2008 that is similar to what I been experiencing. Am I the only one who have conversations as if I'm daydreaming? you might see a person in a quiet room mouth moving as if they are talking but they aren't, they just responding as if they participating in conversation. When a situation has happened to you, it turns into a daydream that plays back and forth in your head like about what could've happened. When you're thinking you might accidentally type out a word or a sentence you're thinking. This mostly happens when you are alone especially in a quiet place. You go off and daydream. When you have assignments or a job to due and you're in the room alone, you just fall into a daydream about what happened to you and what you wished to happen as if it came true.

You're not alone. I really suggest looking that term up.
Thanks! I am currently doing that. I been this way since my ex kicked me in the head

Ah I see. I've been like this since before I can remember. I think it strted probably at 3 or so but around kindergarten/1st grade it became worse and it's been there ever since. Can I share a bit with you? Link you to my threads I've written about this on these forums? You're not alone.

Yup, (Mal)Adaptive dreaming. Once I understood that it was a healthy coping mechanism as long as it didn't interfere with your day to day living where you self care or isolated your self so you could have more time to do it, I actually stopped relying on it so much.

I mean, do you choose to put off assignments so that you can indulge in it more? As in a conscious choice, or does it just happen because you let your mind wander?

Choosing to do it when you have free time is just fine. Choosing to avoid things to do it is more of an addictive thing. Falling into it because you were doing mundane things like chores, trying to focus on studying, or trying to brain storm for a writing assignment is just a more extreme form of normal dissociation. Falling into it as a result of a stressful situation if your brain protecting you.
