I'm also glad for your fighting spirit, too! And I love to hear when anyone advocates for a child.
At this school, the Director said, "children are 'powerless' and they gain power through: growth, learning, (something else I can't remember) and they need an adult to advocate for them as they go through this process...".
I felt like the director really gets it. As someone who survived childhood with many scars from lack of advocacy and abuse, I totally and 100% agree with her.
She also said that parents can either "front load" the education process by building a rich foundation upon which the child can themselves build. Or you can go through the motions, and sometimes, it's fine, but often there is a "therapy and college remediation" that is more costly to the family and the child done that way. Either can work, but early foundation is better for the child.
