Ding! We have a winner! IBS links from Anthony, For The Win!

Which begs the question....WHY is IBS treated so frquently by GPs without a referral for screening for anxiety disorders?!

I got MIS-Diagnosed, as it doesn't happen when I don't eat things I'm allergic to...but was seen for this over and over again for over 25 years!

My next threat is going to be 'Public Policy & PTSD'....

Dear Researcher....Please Study;
- whether or not loud announcements/music/etc. in stores triggers anxiety in the average person, and at what decibel level
- how many patients presenting with sleep disturbance score positive for PTS, PTSD
- ...and whether or not they were screened for trauma prior to receiving their sleep meds

Kerching on all 3. I'm from Australia but lived in California for a few years until 2yrs ago. The *constant* cacophony of piped music combined with announcements & sound effects in every mall, restaurant, hotel/motel, cafe, office foyer, store, bar, lobby, airport, pub, outlet, pharmacy, gas station, supermarket, casino was so distressing & cry-making that I used to run away & hide in restaurant bathrooms hoping for some peace. But the piped dirge was even on in the cubicles.

To this day, I sleep with ear plugs on a string (so they don't get swallowed into the empty chasm of my brain). Oh and meds...but the ear plugs block out everything. I recommend them for anyone who has trouble sleeping :)

Speaking of loud noises - I share a wall with one d-bag who acts like he has to have something loud on. It used to be his stereo and lately it has been either tv or just yelling and purposefully making noise (slamming his door, etc) since I've had the owner's onsite rep up to yell at him. Immature idiot. From what I heard, he's on the verge of getting kicked out because of his behavior - I'm not the only person who's complained about him. Yeah - I'll believe it when I see it.

Other people's noise - it's a literal invasion.

Wow, I've never heard of Bruxism until this page. I have just about all of the symptoms. I though I just had OCD tendencies. I have PTSD and am diagnosed as Bipolar. I know I clench more whenever I'm anxious, stressed, or manic. I have a lot of shoulder and neck pain. My teeth are sensitive to cold. I started experiencing this when I was about 16, when my PTSD symptoms came out. The bruxism has gotten worse over the last 8 years, leading up to my neck and back pain. I will have to discuss this with my therapist.

We could all be waiting a longggggggggggggg time for any type of public policy on PTSD. :eek:

That is really unfortunate. I was commenting in a different forum about the difficulty of finding employment due to all the anxiousness and other things that come along with PTSD. It would be nice to be recognized and protected against discrimination. Just because someone can't see it doesn't mean it isn't real for the person suffering from it!

Also, the bruxism thing is totally legit. I haven't read studies, but I have all the problems that come with it too. I was diagnosed at age 9.
