Diagnosis, A Starting Point

It's official. I have symptoms in all three categories used to determine if one has PTSD. Next Tuesday I am doing a CAP test. This is suppose to determine the extent of my problem. Then they are going to come up with a treatment plan. They have already told me that family conselling will be among the recommendations. That means I will have to come out of my hell and tell my wife. Since I still haven't told my wife that I've been seeing a shrink, this might pose a problem. Cowardice, my new friend, how I loothe thee.

Ohh, and I cried infront of the therapist today. She took it better than I did. 240 pounds of snivilling little Brat. 4 confirmed kills, 7 medals and my own pacifier to soothe me to sleep. Not my best day, but I did get a diagnosis.

Well done Al... one vet to another, took me a lot to get past that big bad military shell that the Army built around me as well, to actually find that helping myself was to ditch that as a "no longer essential" item within civilian world, and to recognise my emotions and be honest with myself. Well done... and don't be surprised if the missus already knows, they're not stupid and don't miss a trick... we just think partners do.

That shell is still chaffing. The key board helps, as no one here knows who I am. I can lay my soul out, and no one can call me on it. I almost wish my wife would find this site and recognise the avitar. I'd probably get it with both barrels, but it would be easier than trying to tell her that her big, tough Sargeant has a boo boo.
