Difficulty With "feeling" Feelings?

Journalling everyday, listening to sad music, working on what you think would happen if you allow yourself to feel e.g lack of control etc, really helped me. I still struggle but I am much better at home, not so good in therapy but getting better.
 
Another thing I do is symbolic.
That reminds me of something an old friend of mine used to do. When something was bothering her, she would imagine putting it on a piece of paper, then balling it up and throwing it away. She would actually act like she was doing it (and throw away imaginary papers). It worked well for her to help her let things go.
