Discovering unexpected things about your inner child

I’m wondering if others have made interesting discoveries about their inner child that are surprising?

I discovered that her favorite color is purple. I never remember liking this color as a child, and it’s not a favorite color of mine as an adult. She thinks our hair should be purple. We compromised with purple nail polish. I prefer more red or blue shades of purple. She is happy. LOL.

An even more odd discovery is that she likes Beethoven. BEETHOVEN?!? How exactly does such a young child come to prefer Beethoven? I remember going to symphonies as a young child, it’s just that it seems so odd that those particular memories are seared into “her” mind to the point of being a preference. I hum Beethoven to her and she is happy. LOL.

LoL we have doorbells and ice cream trucks in Australia that play Für Elise, do you guys?
that might be one possibility why she likes Beethoven :)

I love the way you express your bond with the inner self or child of yours. I want to have this connection. It seems to bridge the gap or disconnection that have been there ever since I was traumatized at 18 years old.

That's really cool, Eve! I've been spending a lot of time with my inner child these last couple of years, and she's given me a few surprises, too. During emdr, whenever she needed soothing, one of those red dodgeball balls would bounce into her room...I have no idea why.

Mine likes Beethoven, too, but only his gentler pieces. I have a music box that plays Für Elise. It still soothes me. :)
