Dissociation And Lonely?

That does sound pretty scary, I have never dissociated to that degree. The whole black out trend to it could suggest a type of seizure or something. Scary indeed.

Hi Leo... my posts are more "asking" you whether it is dissociation, or derealization / depersonalization... as I do not know if you are or are not aware of the differences. People just use dissociation, often confusing it for what it is.

More just questioning you to ascertain what you are saying, to help you whether it is dissociation or one of the other two.

Yes... eventually such things will be listed in the wiki pages...

Great glad you would consider this and post in wiki pages, look forward to it, yes thats probably why often people use word dissociation because not know or sure the difference between several words. Easier just to say dissociation.. Thanks !

It's funny but since my diagnosis of ptsd, I have used the internet to identify so many things. I find it hard to post anything if I feel like I didn't know what I am talking about. Still working on that.

I remember when I started out my own healing process, I had to actually go lookup nearly every emotion on a list that was given to me, so I could understand what each one theoretically was, so I could then isolate what I felt and what I thought I felt... helped tremendously to clarify what I felt into actual emotion words.

(Grin) That is what I am doing tonight try to find on internet different for Dissociation/Derealization/Depersonalization any other words did I overlook that may be important to learn that could apply to PTSD? Smile

I almost always feel like I am living in a dream, whether I'm alone or not. I actually feel more lonely in crowds and around most people, because I can't connect. I try grounding techniques but they either don't work, or only work for a very short time, like a temporary high.

Ah Crl, I am the same way, feeling lonely in crowds. It's a real bummer when I go out. I have to drink in order to socialize with people or I feel awkward and uncomfortable the whole time.

I used to dose myself with caffeine to survive social outings. Normally I stay far away from it because I'm so very sensitive to it. No sleep for days And days, plus the gobs of anxiety. Was my doctor ever interested in this tendency. All over it like a duck on a Junebug. Turns out, It's disinhibitive. Bumps me over the fog of learned helplessness, gaslighted identity problems.

When I'm really messed up, alone, agoraphobic, I cannot even take the steps to put on clothes, care for myself, feed myself, etc. It's not precisely depression, because I do things I enjoy like reading and playing games. I take care of OTHERS also, and I can entertain or educate my kids, with great effort.

That is the state I go in and out of. I use to be extremely terrified by it but I'm not so much now. From what I've read and after discussing it with my tdoc I think it is a state of Derealization. It's like floating to me, I look in the mirror and I cannot connect with that which I see. Sometimes my husband seems not to be who he is, it's like my life is not mine. After coming out of it as my tdoc said was possible with work I realized it really is connected to my PTSD.

What I assumed from reading though was that Derealization is under Dissociation. No?? I have made the mistake of calling it that as I am not myself while in it. I totally get what actual Dissociation is as I have experienced it, total loss of time and departure from self, this is not what I am experiencing. Although I'm quite clear I don't feel like myself at all, I'm floating around, not apart of my life but not disappearing.

I hope this makes sense.
