Dissociative disorders

I know I dissasociate....usually realize when i pick the crap out of my head and donèt realize until it really starts to burn or I am watching a program and totally cannot remember what I just watched as my brain is somewhere else. I am not sure about the exercise portion as my back injury has prevented me from regular exercise for about two years. I am hoping in the new year when my decompression for my back is over that i can start exercising again. I hope this does not exaccerbate the disassociation. I guess I will just have to wait and see but from this post I know I have to be careful. Thanx for the info.

Pandora- I find for me yoga and stretching really helps. I often don't want to go but I inevitably feel better even if just for the one hour class, it's worth it.

The more aerobic stuff is good most of the time. But sometimes a real disaster involving dissociation, extreme dizziness, hyper ventilating. I've found weights are usually a good thing.

I hope you do find some exercise that works for you. There have been times when yoga's the only time I feel okay. But an hour of feeling okay is still a pretty wonderful gift when you really need it.

I did martial arts too for many years auburn. I feel like maybe I blank out when i exercise because it helps me not think about the abuse.

However, as I was reading the threads about dissociation and the different types, I had a question.

When i was in the middle of the abuse or after one of the more extreme abuses of that day, i would find myself involuntarily falling asleep, whether i was tired or not!

Is that considered dissociation as well? Or is that something else?
