Do You Tend To Overspend?

Utilities & accessories & stuff, unless it's gear? I'd be damned to not find a way to make it cheap.

ROFLMAO :hilarious:... So... The water bill around here back when I had a house looks like this:

$200 - use
$400 - double the cost of use for "sewer charge" :rolleyes:
$800 - double the total cost of use & sewer for summer surcharge May-Nov :wtf:
$43 - random fees for the privilege of using city water
= 843 a month May to Nov, 443 Oct-Apr.

-or-

Jury rig a 5gal bottle above toilet for flushing
Laundry at the laundrymat
Showers at the gym
5gal bottle in the kitchen for cooking
= $100

Voila. $700 saved.

I soooooo love showers & baths, though. One day, one day, I'm going to bath-house up with a cistern & copper boiler. Russian style. Japanese style. Hell. The Romans had baths. No reason why I can't. $800 a month for water? FFS. They can soooo bite me on that one!

I make a decision to not go on an outing that will cost me money. Someone asks me if I am going and I say, "I'll have to check my finances this month to see if I can afford it." (I already know that I can't). The next day I make arrangements to go, taking money out of my meager savings.

Now I am saying to myself, "What was I thinking! I know I cannot afford to go."

Why am I so weak willed in this area? I realize I need to cancel my plans today, or be locked into it on the day of the outing, which is Monday.

@FridayJones, that. And I'm so darned glad when the companies send me back cheques amounting to 'what the f*ck you didn't spend half of what you're supposed to be spending... and that was winter.' It was not a darned Russian winter. And it sure wasn't nuclear one, though that one I'd know nothing about. So that was bit of a yay! snow! let's make snowmen and rant about the roads!, that was no winter. Besides the times I re-catch malaria or other bugs is summer, not winter, and when old wounds f*ck me the most is fall, also not winter. Why would one need extra heating to spend on. Facepalm. :D

.... I'm again thinking aloud and this time that tangent isn't even tangential. My bad. :facepalm:;)

I don't think you are weak willed though. Maybe planning it & sticking to the plan is the steps that need some improvement, not having to do with will? I mean, you know it in your head well already that you need to spend different amounts or not spend in some times and on some items; you know it well enough to catch yourself about it, mid-walk, and berate yourself for it after.

You will it rather stubbornly, it just isn't something that is happening in your life, so the steps that may need improvement to get you there are somewhere else, not in will or lack of it?

@SheilaKathy, yep, that and not beating yourself up over it, because this isn't your failing (as a person, and/or as a planner) it's how it works out later that's complicating your life
