I have several gallstones and what I had the other day was in fact not gastritis but acute pancreatitis, but as that has passed, I will need to book in for out patient surgery. Which I am doing tomorrow. I spent the best part of the day on a drip and can now drink a little more too and have eaten some rice just now. My sister came with me and we played spot the blood splatter - which sounds far more gruesome and unhygienic than it actually was, it was almost as amusing as me moving my middle finger around and seeing the patterns it played with my pulse when the nurse wasn't looking. And I saw the nurse who patched me up when I ended up in hospital a few times for serious self harm and I got to say thank you which was really nice, so overall a good experience because I'm relieved to know what it is rather than a guess at what it may or may not be.

Well done! You are a superstar! :)

Glad too that they have done their job properly and you have an answer and that you should hopefully get appropriate treatment. As Rumours said both are important to treat so you did the right thing.

This I'm overwhelmingly glad for, I am very thankful for this, I was sure they would think I was making it up or I was not really in need of help. I was almost certain that they would send me away and/or leave me with more questions like Friday night, leaving me in the position of doubting them and myself.

you have an answer

Also important and a great relief, I was almost certain, although I know the importance of not self diagnosing, I knew that I wasn't ok and managed to trust my body's instincs ( though through periods of denial, nonetheless), which is quite big in itself for me.I wouldn't have been able to get to this with out them doing their job properly. And I was so scared they wouldn't. All in all a huge relief.

You are a superstar!
AGREED!!!

Hi Kas,

I'm so glad the medical facility gave you good care and that you're feeling a bit better now. I hope the rest of your tests/procedures go well and don't reveal anything too serious that can't be taken care of simply and swiftly.

Best wishes,
~ Drew

I spoke to my GP today when booking the surgery, apparently the tests didn't say I had Acute Pancreatitis but I'm at high risk of it, however, a lot of the stuff that was found later on Monday apparently hasn't been received by the GP yet (including my scan, the results and the meds I've been given).
