if the session/client data was wiped and only the neural net retained, i'd be there in a heartbeat. what use a 'human connection' ? i don't give a rats ass for sympathy or support, i want skills, methods, behaviors.

Interesting perspectives @Pteredacted. I can see the value in being able to obtain s...
Perhaps the dislike of human contact/interaction is specific to certain disorders.

Certainly, any client who needs/desires interaction, compassion or acceptance from individuals/groups would feel deeply alienated by an AI therapist's simulated emotional responses.

We can group the artificial therapist into two broad categories: those designed to appear / simulate a human (with varying degrees of verisimilitude), and those designed to be overtly artificial, with little likelihood of interpreting the bot as human. The different kinds of AI therapist tool would have different purposes and deployment.

Bessel der Kolk, in his book, 'The Body Keeps the Score' discusses a young woman, with severe reactive attachment disorder, who bonded with a horse, but it was not known when that happened. So equine therapy may be of assistance in such situations.

Quite interesting! Pros: Might not have to shop around so much like the h_ll a person might go through to find a decent human therapist. Hopefully, a client couldn't/wouldn't be abused by one of these bots - again, abuse is a risk clients face with human interaction and bad therapists. However, I can see the worst-case scenarios like a Hal9000 occurring too. Gee, wait until hackers access (and inevitably some will) these AI therapists! Oh, boy. Will they manipulate the bot during the session to screw around with the client's head? I fully expect breach of confidentiality to occur at some point. Can you imagine? And who/what will be storing the information? Will cyber spies sell patient info? Nah. I'm sure that'll never happen. Paranoia or "real-noia"?
