I think all that nature vs nurture in regards to empathy is in great amount unscientific because how you treat yourself & others boils down to choice.
What one 'feels' or not doesn't have all that much to do with it.
It's excuses.
Or: People are yet to show me an abuser who truly 'couldn't help themselves'. Empath or 'path alike. So many abusers are empaths. They don't care, but that doesn't mean they don't understand the suffering of others on some levels.
Whole the classification system for empathy disorders is lacking & stigmatizing & more a weapon against people from specific upbringings and entangled in toxic lifestyles, than be a valuable diagnostic category with truth to it. Criminal justice classifications make more sense for focusing on abuse, specifically.
