Well, that has got to be the dirtiest move ever, never heard of such a foul way of abuse in my life. How does that HR person sleep at night?
What happened to you is wrong in every way. And since you have the correct documentation you would easily win a lawsuit in any court.
The despicable actions of these people need to be stopped, and that can be done if someone they wronged like you takes such matters before the court.
