Hi Foxtrot
It can be hard to keep going when you are a supporter, but I myself have learnt that my own life is important too. So I have over the last almost 4 years, built my own life up in a different way.
I took 6 months away from work, for my own benefit as well as my husbands, I know this is not for everyone, but for me it worked. I have now gone back to work 2 days a week, which is enough to keep me out in the world, away from PTSD for a few hours a week. I also go out with one of my daughter's usually once a month, when possible. I have plans to work from home eventually, and am now building up the equipment I need to do this.
Going out alone has been hard at times, especially as we always did most things together, now I do them alone.
4 years down the road with PTSD still takes its toll, but at least I have learnt that life for us does not stop when PTSD invades your lives. It may be put on hold for a while, adjustments have to be made, but it can still move forward with positivity.
