New Here
So I guess were all here because I some form of PTSD. Mine started at an early age, around 17 after finding my best friend after a successful suicide. Later it went to losing my grandma, which the events leading to that were traumatic, then combat, and lastly my grandfather passing, also fairly traumatic. Most deaths are very saddening, depressing, and you go through many stages of mourning. I usually get stuck in the sad or depressed stage, because I have yet learned how to move on from there.
I'm now 26, 3 years ago in 2012 I was honorably discharged from the military. I have gone through therapy session after therapy session and have been used as a guinea pig for many different depressant and nightmare medication, and after 3 years, they decided to try a different form of therapy. A companion dog. I have had my companion for 3 days now, and to some extent I believe he knows why he is my companion, because he's very intuitive and doesn't leave my side.
On top of the mental issues I also suffer from hypothyroidism, which causes weight gain, migraines, and memory loss easily tying in with PTSD. I am slowly realizing more and more about hypothyroidism, since I wasn't very well educated on it after my diagnosis.
Since I don't enjoy group therapy, I thought I'd give a forum a go, see how it works out.
