I am not sure of the formula, but at 10 in dog years, she's 65 in human (I'm 45!) hence her 20 years over mine...[DOUBLEPOST=1400300415,1400300352][/DOUBLEPOST]Senior starts at 7+ I believe according to the dog food I will be switching to given this change in Sheba.

Dog years all depends on the breed and how the dog has lived. I have a 15 year old terrier cross who can out walk some 7 years olds! He did an hour and a half's walk last night with my youngsters and is still fine today.

I tend to think of 10 year old terriers as middle aged whereas a Labrador for instance at 10 would be old, a Great Dane would be ancient!!

I would recommend a glucosamine supplement and salmon oil to aid Sheba's joints @Geordie there are some really good ones on the market. Senior dog food isn't all it's cracked up to be, it often just has a few supplements in it heat you would be better off adding yourself. My boy is fed normal adult food and I give him his supplements separately so I have more control over them.

What I am feeding her now is a more expense dog food than senior Formula I am considering made by the same company at different plants. (The adult formula is made at a plant using alternative energy making it more for a bit less per pound.) I was planning to give her supplements in addition to her medication. (She will need Rimadyl for her Arthritis).

My old boy just gets slightly less than perhaps a similar sized dog would get if it was five years younger. If he is hungry I bulk it out with fruit and veg. He is a good weight but I am confident I am giving him everything I can to continue him living happily. It is different to every dog of course but I have found senior foods are just an expensive con!
