I'm spinning, falling, dizzy feeling that comes before a flashback. I thought I'd seen it all, don't want to see something new. Trying so hard to stay grounded here. Trying to type. Is anyone there? Please. Help.

I'm here.

Do you know any grounding techniques?

Try these. Smell perfume or essential oil (lemon always works for me). Hold ice. Visually - look for 5 blue things in your surroundings (or pick any colour). Hold something rough or smooth and concentrate on the sensation.

You are not alone here.

Have you tried the Butterfly Hug?

Fold your arms across your chest and rock from hip to hip. Concentrate on the left - right movement, don't worry if your mind is switched and left is right and visa versa - this works so well for me and at the end of my hug I am left-on-left and right-on-right again. can take ten minutes or so to ground. I like to do it in private but sometimes when I need to be able to concentrate in a meeting i just do a very gentle hip sway.

Yes, thank you. Recovering.

I wasn't able to stop myself from having a flashback, but thankfully it was one I have had before. Previously my flashbacks have all involved memories I had repressed for 30 years. Last night I think I was more afraid of remembering something new about my past than I was about going through a flashback. It was horrible and I am exhausted, but I am dealing with it so much better than I did the first time. In that sense, it was a positive experience. I am hoping it is a sign that I have no more repressed memories still to emerge. The ones I have already recalled are quite enough to deal with.

I'm happy to hear that you are better! :)

If only we could stop flashbacks.:shy:

:tup:True progress! From most of my experiences, I feel the same way.
The ones I have already recalled are quite enough to deal with.
;) Isn't this the truth!
