We missed our lost friends, but I think we miss them more now than then. That’s the way the Army wanted it. They whisked away the bodies before the blood dried, and no one talked about the dead. A week passed and it was like they never lived. That pissed me off. It still does.
Well it still pisses me off now mate, it's hard to understand, but it is necessary in war to do that, we have to be mindless machines without emotions or feelings to enable us to function in the extremes of conflict. We are conditioned that way right from boot camp and it still happens today. Then they dump us back in society and expect us to function.
The military are not the only ones though. Look at the media. A soldier, sailor, airman, or woman can die or be mortally wounded and nothing really shows up in the papers, yet a drive by shooting can make the front page. The media are f*cked too.
I know you guys have gone through the same thing and realize how important the bonds between friends can be.
You are lucky to have each other. And I feel pretty lucky, too. Thanks.
We are just doing what any brother or sister in arms would do and that is to be there and have each others backs.
Mate, you have support here now and we would not have it any other way. I have made some friends on this forum that will be with me to the day I go toe up.
So, once again welcome to our family mate.
Smooth sailing sailor
Jimmy
