Rent a camp on a lake and sit on the front (screened in) porch and just relax with some iced tea with lemon and enjoy the peacefulness and quiet. (Don't choose a touristy lake, but one off the beaten path). My parents did this for years. It was usually Lake Camplaine which borders on New York State, Vermont and Canada at its northern tip. We would also take a day to drive around the lake sometimes, which is 125 miles long and about 5 miles wide. We would be able to drive around the whole lake in a day if we left pretty early in the day. We liked to stop at a country store in Vermont and buy some home made sharp cheese, choose a restaurant somewhere along the way and then enjoy a quiet evening back at the camp just relaxing on the porch.
Oh yes, the canoe can't be left out of this picture either! It had a little motor on it and I would sit on the floor in the center while they sat on the seats on each end of it. We would take a trip across the lake in it and then back again. Mom was on the front, Dad steering in the back.
They have passed away now and I miss them dearly, as well as our many summers spent on this lake. Thanks for helping me to bring up some really happy memories!
