Not exactly, but yes, it was the exact same process for me... only our relationship started when we were 12 or 13, and ended ten years later. I'm young enough that that's been a significant portion of my life (it won't stay that way, if I'm lucky!). It ended last October, 2017.

So, I was thinking of it as an isolated thing. Maybe this EXACT think is rare or at least not talked about much, but the process isn't different. I wasn't AS singled out. Somehow that's comforting, although I am so sorry for what you have been through.

Also, I've never seen someone refer to physical violence as "lucky" before, but I agree that it's a pretty clear indication of abuse. Small things are more confusing.
