Of course that is illegal, weasels from my workplace have attempted in the last couple of weeks to get me to a mental health evaluation situation because I have PTSD. They sabotage my work constantly and accuse me of things that I did not even do. And yes, the supervisors and managers there harass me every day, they even attempt to sexually harass me...... it is absolutely disgusting

Now, about the gun..... I am not so sure this person is allowed to carry it into the restaurant at work, there may be laws in your state that prevent that......at any rate, if someone shows you a personal weapon at work, a weapon that can be fatal..... well then you are just dealing with a total whacko, but you know what? Those whackos are everywhere.

Sorry Celestial, this is BS! Good luck finding some justice and getting a new job, sounds good to be rid of that place but it's pretty outrageous, especially when you worked so hard for them.

If he's a lawyer that doesn't matter. There are some out there that don't even know their jobs. Just like some doctors, cops, nurses, etc. So don't let that scare you out of reporting him. And depending on your financial situation, you can probably get your lawyer fees subsidized, or better yet free if you want to sue.

Im so sorry you went through that. It's sick that bosses get away with thease things all the time. And for the chef brandishing a pistol for no reason? That's just a dick move. I'm quite familiarized with handling all sorts of weapons (I'm a collector) and it still freaks me out when someone pulls a weapon out, so don't think you're crazy for getting worked up about that. I can understand having a concealed pistol, but I've never heard of a time that it's appropriate to boast about or brandish a concealed weapon of any kind, as a matter of fact in some states you can't unholster or even make a concealed weapon visible unless it's needed, or you're putting it away. In other words, he likely broke the law and can loose his CCW permit for that, and all it takes is an anonymous tip for inappropriate handling.

From the sounds of it his boss wouldn't give crap so just report him to the police or the ATF, I don't know who to handles carry permits in America since I'm canadian.

Didn't mean to ramble so much, but I think it'll take some weight off your shoulders knowing something was done about it. I don't care if your former boss was an attorney or the chef had a permit for his stupid gun. Doesn't mean anything when they are on the other end of the law books. Stay safe.

Uh, from what I understand, brandishing a pistol in a threatening manner is still illegal in concealed carry states (I have american friends).

I many times the suggestion of getting thee to a lawyer. What was done was not legal, and you being freaked about by someone showing off a pistol when not threatened? Still very of the no good.

If they can't prove it was on a safety without a round chambered, then they're toast. If they can prove it, they're still toast, because it's an unsafe handling with endangerment.

Go find someone who will bring it up for you, because that is very a no-no.

As another canadian here-you people are really weird about your letting people walk around with lethal weapons. Seriously, if your country is so bad you need to be able to kill another human being.... you have issues (because a pistol won't kill most large wildlife i a situation of great fear and threat).

Hi Celestial Thanks for the post. HOLY CRAP. Sounds to me like the law needs to come down on everyone concerned there. If I were you I would find a new job and never look back. I can't imagine working in as toxic place. Getting Fired will be hard for your near future it won't be for your long term future health and safety. Go out and find a new job with a better environment for you to work in you will be so much better off.
I was abused at work away from home on a fish boat. I quit and made my way back home with 20 bucks in my pocket. I got a new job that week on a good boat and started to make my way in life. I was 22 years old then.
Have you talk to your therapist about how to handle things.
I hope you find the job you deserve to have with a good boss, good co workers and a safe environment for you to work in.
