First Snow Fall!!!

We had our first FLURRIES... Didn't amount to diddly squat. I'm glad, I HATE winter. I detest being cold, I hate putting on layers and layers, just to feel like a stuffed snowman, that is still cold.

Yes, it can be pretty, until the road sand, and salt hits. Then it looks dirty, nasty, and miserable. The ice storms make it so much fun too.........Winter SUCKS!!!!!!!

I love snow. I like to stand in it in the middle of the night, when it's so still and silent. It's about as close to "safe" as I can feel.

And the best part of snow: snow days! As a teacher I still get those, and there is nothing better than finding out you don't have to go to school....making a big pot of coffee and camping out under the blankets with a good book.

Uh-oh! My Christmas lights went up last night!

I love the snow. In fact, as I state in my thread "How I released repressed emotions", while working on a presentation, I visualized what it felt like for me when I saw the first snow fall of the winter. I was thrilled and couldn't wait to go out and play in it.

That thought somehow brought up the feelings associated with that event for the first time in my life, and I realized that the child inside me was not gone or dead.

Now, that said, when we get 40 to 50 centimeters of snow, I'll probably feel completely different about it (grrrr).

But for now - its lovely.

I'm surprised at hearing so many positive associations with snow!! It really can be beauiful, yes indeed. That is an awsome memory Sunny, thanks for sharing that. I don't have any single particular memory, but a collection of impressions... peaceful, graceful, beautiful. Good thoughts to be going into the season with :)

Oh I do love it when it snows, my garden looks as good as everyone else's.

No it's not that bad my garden looks stunning when it snows, our Holly tree looks wonderful and the Conifers down the side look amazing with the snow hanging on the branches.

The down side is it gets sludgy and dirty too quick and our cat creates enormously all the time.

I don't like the snow at all. I agree that it can look pretty, when totally unspoilt, but it's cold, wet and slippery, and just turns into nasty grey slush. I hate driving in the snow and hate walking in the snow. Yuk!! Keep it away from me. It always causes chaos over here, because we're never prepared for it and aren't really able to deal with it.

Mind you, it's done nothing but rain here for weeks now, and I'm not liking that much either! Bring on Summer!!

And it's raining hard again, oh well at least the weeds will grow well . No seriously it is wet again, but at least we are warm and dry even if it is horrible and gloomy outside.

Ha, Ha, my sister works an hour north of me, she's driving through at least a foot today!! My yard is still green! Hilarious! Gotta love this country!

Sounds lovely Dave,

I have only seen snow a few times in my life. I remember the children liked to make snowmen.

It seems hard to imagine when we are over here sweltering in 45% heat.

Enjoy the snow :)

Hey Dave, us too. First snow last night here and beautiful, but cold outside today. Something more to enjoy, the snow that is, certainly not the cold!

Take Care.

One of the things I'm most looking forward to in Boston is the snow! I've been staying up in the desert a lot lately, you'd think I'd want to be near the beach and sunshine in the short time I have before I move, but nope... I am fascinated by snow!! Although this morning it's pretty cold- with windchill it's below zero degrees here... but it's been snowing up here, and it's awesome!! Now we're just going to be stuck in the car for 6 hours trying to get down the hill and to school.

Riiiiight, so, I drove home today from work on a very slick road as the beautiful snow came tumbling down. I had just touched my brakes in early anticipation of an upcoming stop sign and....slid right through the intersection, coming to a white knuckled halt INCHES away from the car in front of me...sideways.

That's enough snow for me thanks. All done.

(OK ok ok...I'll get my snow tires on this weekend!! sheesh!)
