Undiagnosed Flashback Or Not?

@Muse,

Maybe its your personal experience, but Ativan has a half life of 10-20 hours while Xanax XR has a half life of 10.7-15.8 hours. So, Ativan is by no stretch of the imagination "short acting" when compared to Xanax XR when at the short end (10 hours vs 10.7 hours) and at the long end, actually works for more time (20 hours vs 15.8 hours).

The problem with Xanax is that it keeps you on an anxiety roller coaster. My doctor won't prescribe it for this reason. He says he prefers to even out anxiety over the long run so prescribes Ativan or Klonopin. I don't opt for Klonopin as it is a strong depressant in my system.

@mgs5123 Welcome to the forum!

There are a lot of posts on flashbacks and you may find the information there helpful. There is also a related site MyCombatPTSD.com that you may want to check out. While therapy is the most effective way to find out what is wrong and then develop a treatment plan, I understand your reluctance to have anything "on record". I have a friend that is in a similar situation and they are seeing a therapist on a cash basis so nothing is turned into the insurance. Not the least expensive option, buts affords some anonymity.
