There's also different times & places. If you wanna look on the Eeyore side of the line, I've dropped out of school... 4 times? 5? Christ. Don't know. And some of these were massive fails. Others were changing degree tacks. Others were needing to take a year to work, or to take care of a sick kid, or non-residency, lag years. Hmmmm. Maybe more than 5 times. (Pardon me while I count on my fingers here). Whatever.
I'm mostly past that, now... So I can look back, and say I've mostly loved school & it's been great. Because that's true, too. Yep. It took me 6 years for my 2 year degree. Bite me. It worked. :sneaky: Seriously. :D Housing, subsidized childcare, counseling, paid internships, etc. All from going part time and taking breaks as needed. I've never used vet benefits, though. Hell, I don't even know if mine are still valid. This was all govvie stuff available to anyone and grant / scholarship writing.
I've been out of school since I started this tailspin. Less PTSD & more LifeStuff. But PTSD comes into play, just cause. Honestly, I don't know if I'm heading back. I could be done in a year. But going sloooooow through school, and that weird multiple major combo was for a very specific job. That I don't know if I want anymore. <shrug> We'll see. So much of life is down to luck & timing. There have been times where school was perfect for me. And times where 'no f*cking way'. When things get hard, we adapt. To date, every time I've gutted things out, they've gotten better. I never believe it's going to in the moment, though! Best way out is through.
