It hasn't really dawned on me yet, but after about a year of struggling with myself and my fears, I have finally managed to get a new place on the private rental market.

For the past three years, I have been living in a special shared accommodation for people with mental illness. I absolutely hate it here, but trying to find another place to live has proved equally daunting. I would ask people for help, then drop out and avoid them.

Recently I got some people to help me and stuck with them. I've been to about a dozen inspections in a few weeks and gotten knocked back about as many times, but one of them finally got through. I've finally got a place to myself!!!

The lesson for me has been about self-respect, being able to ask for help, and also patience and perseverance.

Nice work. I haven't been in your situation, but I have lived in accomodation for homeless people looking for a home, and I know how much of a struggle that can be, especially sharing facilities with people you wouldn't ordinarily choose to, like crackheads and violent people.

I also might have a place of my own that is self-contained and a bungalow, so here's to us, eh. It's definitely a step in the right direction when you can have your independence and a place to yourself.

This is what I need as well. I haven't had my own place in years. Because of the outrageousness cost of rent, I keep having to have shared accommodations with people. We get along fine at first until they start telling me what to do and are unable to mind their own business. Typically, they think they can tell me what to do. I then set boundaries and that's when the fireworks start.

I need my own place in a bad way.

I've had the exact same experience mysterylike1. All I've wanted for the past 15 years, no exaggeration, has been a place of my own, but due to rental costs I'v ebeen forced to share...and I hate it. I'm not even that social.

I was invited today to move into my first and own self-contained bungalow, with my own kitchen and bedroom and small living area and the man is installing a shower, which will be ready to go in a couple of months. They have solar panels, so the energy rates will be next to nothing, and they have a vegie patch and said I can make my own as well, and chooks and grey water tanks...everything sustainable.

Looks like i hit the jackpot because it's also extremely affordable.

Frikkin, FINALLY!
