Thats right I said FUKM. After all the bullshit these idiots in my command have put me through. I got approval for full honors retirement ceremony. I dont really give two shits about it but the wife wants the satisfaction of making them hand me my Flag after 21 years and my final Honors and Awards with Bailey (My ServiceDog) standing in formation right by my side! Next Saturday at 1300 Ceremony will commence.
Maybe once this is all said and done I can actually start healing.

It's a shame that your command ran you through the ringer but after 21 years of service you deserve a retirement ceremony. You're mad about it all now and I don't blame you, you should have gotten better support. But someday you may look back and think differently about it. I think that standing there with Bailey at your side makes a statement that soldiers can go on serving their country even if they've got a condition that can be disabling. That's something to be proud of.

I hope your transition to civilian life is smooth and that you find the peace and healing that you're look for.

I never got my flag. They changed the rules here in Canada. You need 25 years now. Funny how they can change their mind as to what your contract inclueds like that.

Carry on Tim... and even tho Bailey hasn't put in the number of yrs you have, it is Bailey's retirement ceremony too. That's how you made it to the end... if nothing else the flag belongs to Bailey if you don't want it. And remember we will all be with you there at least in spirit and heart. You did your time now time to live your life the best way you can!

"Thank you for your service and sacrifice" is the only thing your command should be saying to you as they hand you the flag. I would be proud to hand a flag and render a salute to anyone who has served their country for 21 years. Best of luck Tim.

Hell, I think anyone who serves honorably for a day or more in some of these wicked combat situations deserves a salute and a flag at the very minimum - but that is just my opinion.

Jimmy, you're another one we should stand up and applaud. Working their way up through the ranks to within shooting range of a commissioned officer is no small feat. In the US military, we called guys like you Mustangers. And they usually were much more respected than your college educated officer that didn't have a clue. Usually treated us enlisted better as well.

In my roughly 24 years experience, prior enlisted officers were always supperior. They had experiences that acadamy and college grads could not. They were more well rounded and took inputs from enlisted troops with seriousness, especially NCOs and SRNCOs.
