Gagged - Heaven Help Me

For those of you who may know me well, I am never short of a word or three and often blunt ones at that. :oops:

Anyway, I have had Whooping Cough for over three weeks now and in accordance with Anthony's wise advice (which I tried to deny/ignore/avoid) I was just told by the doctor that I have to rest my voice. Do you know how incomprehensible this is? Me shutting up? OMG...may the heavens fall upon us. I was born to talk. :eek:

Good news is I can still type :p

Bad news is I am really cheesed off with the mother who refuses to get her children immunised which caused me this dreadful illness.

Poor Anthony as after 3 weeks of night coughing fits keeping me awake for hours on end I am not the most pleasant person to be around at present....chances of bursting into tears or yelling for any unknown reason at the drop of a hat are high. Gotta love him though as he is trying really hard. (where is that kiss smiley??))

Personally I dislike parents that do not immunize their children. It's just irresponsible and rude to all the other kids and parents (teachers, etc.).

Totally agree - I'm sick as a dog due to someone's selfish choice based on a few rare reactions to immunisation not weighed up against the overall benefits of safety and wellbeing of a population. Like hello, the vaccinations worked to dramatically reduced deaths, child defects/deformities and saved lives.

When my son went to primary school he was not allowed to attend until a full immunisation record was produced. Now there is this conscientious objection crap that leaves responsible people at the peril of these minded people and now we are having outbreaks.

People forget that the immunisations reduced diseases and illnesses to a minimal level. Some 'new age' mums think well it's not around so why put 'poison' (as they call it) in their childrens' bodies........hello, because it prevents or reduces the likelihood of illness. They instead fill their kids up with vitamins (not natural) - what happened to fruit, dairy, meat, grains and vegetables?, and have to pump antibiotics into the kids as they are susceptible to all these illness immunisation would have assisted with. What is wrong with the world?! Does a parent who has not vaccinated their child ever sat back and thought why are they sick so much of the time compared to vaccinated children?

I have never had whooping cough as we all had the the vaccinations as the age for them came round. Even my 2 girls and now my grandchildren have had them all. My daughter also had boosters for certain ones as grandchildren had theirs.

I do remember my cousin having at when he was very young, and being kept a way from him at the time. It can take quite a few weeks to fully recover from this, unfortunately. Maybe if todays so called modern mums, could see video's of how children suffered all those years ago, they would be banging doors down to have their kids vaccinated. Or would they just come up with another excuse not to have it done.

I hope you can manage to stay calm and quiet Nicolette, don't worry about your words not been heard. Your typed word is strong enough for all to hear.

Apparently it was known as the 100 day cough....it can take that long for it to go through your system and mine is starting to fail in fighting so off to bed soon and hopefully get some sleep.:rolleyes:

I did not want to say that in my last post Nicolette, but yes it can be up to 12 weeks before you see the real signs of improvement. Not that is always that long, hopefully if you can rest well, it will reduce this by possibly 3 weeks.

Try propping yourself up while sleeping, this could help ease it a bit at night too. Don't forget the Essential Oils if someone could get them for you, anything is worth some relief from this.

That's insane!! We have this sort of thing over here also, with the only stop-gap being that the child then is disallowed public school. Yes, what IF things like Polio and TB became epidemic again- the things which crippled and wiped out so many children in NOT distant history? My parents actually met while working summers in a camp for children with polio. Camp Daddy Allen, in the Poconos. It's gone OUT of business, Thank God, through lack of clientel but will be back, if these mindless, selfish friggin idiots do not stop messing with these things. Whooping cough killed thousands of babies also so boy are they playing with fire! The vaccinations have NOT been proven to cause autism, which I take it is the genesis of this nonsense? There are just too many new and virulent, wacko strains of things to take the fate of one's children and others into your OWN hands. I think it's more like criminally irresponsible, and am so sorry you have to go through all the Nicolette!

Gagged? Insult to injury! I am speechless! :) Does the doc think something like a muscle relaxant might help block that endless, awfull reflex?

Actually, here in the US there are lots of people who are finding a way around this and sending their children to school without vaccinations. There is a small, simple form that the parent has to fill out claiming a "religious exemption". Yes, they claim that vaccinations are against their religion...even if they aren't. The schools/government aren't allowed to ask specific questions like what their religion is or ask for proof that it is against their religion. All the parent has to do is sign something saying it is against their religion and then the public school system can't ask any more questions and these crazy parents that don't want to vaccinate for whatever reason (usually not religion but they same kind of reasons that Nicolette was talking about) can send their kids to school without vaccinations. And the other parents have no way of knowing if their kids are sitting in class and playing with other kids who aren't vaccinated. Scary, huh?

Wow Catjudo no way! I had no idea- that is soooo scary, and I do not think that's a reactive statement! WOW. It's incredibly dangerous and also pretty smarmy, since we don't really hear about this sort of thing! With all this 'freedom' nonsense, what about one's freedom to not be exposed to virulent, preventable diseases? My daughter, for instance, is on Remicade, which sort of squishes the immune system, along wih a plethora of other meds. She's very, very careful about germs, and has to be with this and other issues. Something which another person could shrug off could quite simply kill her. We do not whine about her condition, we merely have dealt with it through the years as pragmatically as possible. Thinking that she and other children like her, who are being responsible could be sort of sacrificed in the name of someone's slimey concept of 'freedom' enrages me.

It won't do anything but plan on bringing this UP and at least watching the unsuing uncomfortable squirming. I'm pretty sure it's the sort of thng other moms would be very interested to know, also so foresee some noise issuing from the general direction of the school board quite soon.
